“There is no experience that exists in this life that does not have the power to lead you to freedom.”

This saying reflects is also one of the tenets of psychotherapy, a treatment which occurs only if a person has some hope that an unpleasant situation or a painful state of mind can be modified, and therefore decides to seek help.  Therapy offers the possibility for change so that, with the appropriate guidance, an unfulfilled person can become more content.

Through therapy, you can more fully discover who you are and what you want: what saddens and excites you and what dictates your unhappy choices in life in order to modify them with choices that are more satisfying and realistic.   You can develop better communication skills in order to have more fulfilling interactions with others and also learn how to listen to yourself and the ways your body and mind are connected or disconnected.  All this may eventually lead you to a more meaningful life, to more enjoyment in work and love, and ultimately give you the ability to come to terms with your limitations, strengths and surroundings so that you can truly bloom where you are planted.

The rewards in psychotherapy are great, and one is never too old to start a more fulfilling life. Depending on your needs, you can choose to tackle a specific problem or symptom with a view to acquiring tools to help you cope with daily life, or, you can decide to undertake a longer term exploration of the workings and intricacies of your mind.
